The GTSS executive committee wishes all members an exciting and fulfilling 2025!
The GTSS came into being in late 2023 as an idea among friends to bring together like-minded scientists, clinicians and patient advocates under the same umbrella in the space of molecular therapies for genetic diseases.
Over good food and coffee, the idea to start a gene therapy interest group in Singapore took shape, and we were pleased to see that there was a common interest across various disciplines. As the goal was, and is, to bring together gene therapy specialists across Singapore, and to enhance knowledge of advancements and collaborations among our own network of Singaporean institutions, we formed the Gene Therapy Society of Singapore in 2024. The Society has been registered with the Registry of Societies (ROS) under MHA (UEN T24SS0034L). Our first Annual General Meeting was held on 8 July, 2024.
The vision of the Society (GTSS) is to be the thought-leader for advancement of genetic medicine and therapies in Singapore and Asia, to promote the translation of genetic therapies to clinical applications, and to advocate for genetic medicine to be available to those who need it. The Society’s mission is to organize and hold events, meetings, and symposia related to Gene Therapy, to be a platform for collaborations, combined research and grant application, to enhance public understanding of genetic medicine while upholding ethical and regulatory standards.
To this effect, we will be planning activities over the coming years to foster greater synergy and cohesion between the numerous gene therapy groups in Singapore. This year we will launch a webinar series for scientists and clinicians to learn about various disease-focused gene therapies and delivery platforms, as well as collaborative activites between GTSS and other Singapore institutions. Please refer to this website for updates on our planned activites.
We hope you will find our activities informative and engaging. Please join us on this journey by becoming a member (link here).
